Jan 2010
Today is the first Monday of the New Year, know what that means? RESOLUTIONS!!! I teach a spin class at a local gym and every year the gym is packed with people that made resolutions to lose weight. And by June half the people have dropped off. January is the time of the year where gym membership increases, people try any and all kinds of diets, plus health and fitness advertisements are everywhere. From TV commercials to magazine covers. They all talk about losing weight, getting healthy and working out.
The problem is many of the ads don’t address the main issue…Your Mindset. You can follow the fad diets, starve yourself, workout until you can hardly breathe but guess what? It’s all useless if you don’t look at your relationship with food. I’ve talked about this topic before and it’s one of the staples of the 21 Day program. How you look at food and your relationship with food is vital to you obtaining your body image goals.
Take the Taco Bell new Fresco Menu for example. They now offer 7 items for less than 500 calories. While that’s a BIG step in the right direction toward a health conscious lifestyle, I don’t want you to be misled and think you can just go and eat whatever you want, whenever you want. Yes you can eat items from their new menu just be mindful of the saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium content. Taco Bell put a disclaimer on the website that many people may not even pay attention to; it stated that the menu is NOT a weight lost program.
That’s why learning to make health conscious decisions are very important. If you know what to eat, how much and when to eat you it helps keep you on track with your body image goals and you don’t need to pay attention to disclaimers. Know it’s OK if you fall off you eating schedule every now and then but don’t make it a habit. Being a student of the 21 Day program I equip you with the knowledge to know how and where to make the adjustments to stay on track.
If you made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight or eat healthy let me help you understand how to obtain and maintain YOUR body image goals so you can have the “I Love MY Body” attitude. I would love hear from you, leave me your comments or questions and let’s make 2010 a year to Reveal a New You!

Torri,
Having a peace of mind is what motivates us to do what we do. You’re right when you’re not at peace it hard to make health conscious food choices but you can. The next time a stressful unexpected situation happens instead of eating do something physical that gets you moving; walking, running, at home workout. The release of the endorphins will help ease the stress plus you’ll feel good.
Thanks for the comment~
I realized awhile back that if I don’t have peace of mind it is hard for me to exercise and watch what I’m eating. I’m definitely a comfort eater, so when I am stressed or I feel out of control I use food to give me that “temporary fix”.
Right before the holidays I decided that I need to work on the internal and external part of me. So right now I’m taking it day by day, trying to be conscious of my prayers, thoughts, activities, and food choices. I have to say that I get bored easily so I am trying a mixed bag approach in looking at my lifestyle changes.
In years past, I can admit that I was one of the people that joined a gym in January and stopped going after about 4 months. Well…….NO MORE!!!! And definitely……NO MORE wasting money. I’m really excited about the 21 Day Program and I look forward to challenging myself to get healthy and fit and stay that way for years to come through the program.
Hi Lamonica,
I guess for the past year or so, food has been controlling me. It has been my safe haven to deal with stressors in my life. I’m excited about changing the way I think in order to change my eating habits. Thanks for empowering us with the gift that God has equipped in you.
