Recently I posted a blog entitled Enough Excuses. Well this pass Saturday in my “I Love MY Body” fitness class I was shocked to find out that one of the ladies in the class drives 80 miles every Saturday just for my class. 80 miles!!!!
Talk about dedication. That’s more than dedication it’s empowering. Not just for her but for the other ladies in the class (myself included). If she can get up at 8am on her day off and drive to Atlanta for a 10 am class, what is it for me to drive 30 minutes?
While the class is AWESOME, I know she doesn’t drive that far just for a fitness class. She could very well take a class closer to home and accomplish her body image goals. So what motivates her to do it? She told me that she really enjoys the class. Which I think is a key to doing a fitness class; the class should be something you look forward too.
When you enjoy being a part of something you’ll make the adjustments to be a part of it.
I’ve said this a lot but I think that it can never be said enough, “If you don’t take care of you, who will?” I hate to sound like a broken record but it’s so important that you put you on the list of things to do.
Being involved with group activity gives you something to look forward to. I can honestly say that I look forward to seeing the ladies in the class. We laugh, joke, some even scream but we have a good time as well as get a good workout in. Even if it’s for 1 hour, that 1 hour will do the mind, soul and body good.
There are benefits to being involved in group fitness activities:
1. Reduce stress
2. Encourages a healthy life style
3. Allows for Me Time
4. Promotes a team attitude
5. Meet new friends
6. Makes you accountable
7. Increases self esteem
8. And more…
Types of group fitness class:
1. Cycling (Spin in favorite)
2. Step
3. Yoga
4. Belly Dancing
5. Kick Boxing
6. Zumba
7. Aqua aerobics
and more…
Check with your local gym or YMCA and see what other group fitness classes are available. Several gyms offer them at no additional cost. Try more than 1 class and see which one you like the best. Never know you just may end up being an instructor

Special guest will be the ladies of the “I Love MY Body” fitness class. Bring your questions and comments for the ladies. Also talk with them 1:1 as they share their personal reasons for joining and their dedication to the class.
